Cannes 2010 Robin Hood

The Cast of Robin Hood are in the cannes' red carpet too.

The Cannes Film Festival 2010 began last night and it looks as though it may well be a rather flat festival if the opening night is anything to go by. The main event to get the 63rd festival underway was the showing of the latest soon to be released Universal blockbuster, Robin Hood.

The latest Robin Hood, or Russell Crowe playing Russell Crowe, was up for judgement in the main hall at the Palais but when the event itself and the after-party outshone the actual film, it was not a good sign. People who attended discussed how it received a lukewarm reception with “respectable” applause, according to latimes.com, and as any die-hard fan of these events can tell you “respectable’” applause is not what anybody involved in a film wants to hear.

Maybe if the film’s director, Ridley Scott, had been present the response would have been more enthusiastic, but who can tell. Still apparently the beach-side club party afterwards was a great success with medieval costumes, flowing champagne and obligatory fireworks thrown in to liven things up.

For more on this go to latimes.com. What are your first impressions of Russell Crowe playing Robin Hood? Do you think he’ll manage to become THE definitive Robin? Certainly from what we’ve heard about the premiere that seems doubtful but maybe you have other opinions? We’d be interested to hear your thoughts.
